Veganism for Diabetics

Posted on Updated on

I put a lot of different links up to guides explaining how to be vegan with different disabilities/illnesses but one I can’t really find a complete guide on is Type 1 Diabetes; so since I was asked about it, I did some research and compiled some resources here.

The problem as I understand it is that the person can digest almost no carbs and the condition is irreversible. Thankfully studies have shown that a vegan or vegetarian diet can be the best thing for someone with diabetes, but since I’m not an expert on the topic I have more information from professionals and vegans with type one diabetes.

How Going Vegan Changed My Type 1 Diabetic Life

I really hope this helps and I’ll put up anything else that I find! 💞

Cruelty free (chemical free)

Posted on Updated on

Although veganism is most certainly the most healthy lifestyle for you and the environment, not everything vegan is necessarily good for your body or the planet. For instance, I’ve seen a few things going around about chemical free cosmetics. I’ve seen people say you shouldnt put anything on your body that you can’t eat because it all gets absorbed anyway; and I agree.

Another thing is a lot of cosmetic companies love testing on animals like bunnies, kittens, rats, chinchillas and even beagles (and whether you’re vegan or not, you shouldn’t support that):

So here Im going to have a list of homemade cosmetics/beauty supplies such as shampoo, toothpaste, perfume, lotion ect. that won’t break your bank, offset your morals, or hurt your skin (provided you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients of course.)

I’ll add more and more as I find them:

Homemade coconut oil toothpaste

Homemade coconut oil deodorant

Homemade coconut milk shampoo

Homemade coconut oil body wash

Happy Earth Day! (Every Day)

Posted on Updated on

This is my first post on this blog so what better thing to discuss than the earths very own bees?

B2

Most of us know how important bees are to our environment and most of us know that they are now endangered. For this article I have two tips to personally help our bees survive.

Tip #1: Nourishment

Bees frequently grow tired from carrying pollen back and forth and working all day and many may stop and sit on the floor to rest. This may be dangerous because of other humans walking around that may want to hurt them or might just not see them and accidentally step on them, or perhaps a hungry bird or another predator. The best way to help in this situation if you can is to move them out of the way of immediate traffic (off the sidewalk and to the grass perhaps) and give them a mixture of a little water and sugar to refuel their energy. Don’t worry, the bee doesn’t want to hurt you, they just want to get back to harvesting pollen for their honey!

Tip #2: Gardening

In order for bees to make honey, they need a LOT of pollen. And for that, they need a lot of flowers! You can do a great service to the bees, the environment, your house, and yourself by planting flowers that attract bees! But make sure that the plant hasn’t been treated with pesticides that may kill the bee or make it forget the scent of flowers (read more about it here & here)
